A timber carport beside a timber garage

Applications

Carports, pergolas & shade sails

Posts that hold against wind as well as weight, with no footings to dig.

Carports, pergolas, verandahs and shade sail posts all need footings that hold against the wind as well as the weight. Ground screws with cap plates give each post a solid base that goes in fast and lines up exactly, with no concrete to dig or set.

Why screw piles

  • Ground screws resist uplift well, which matters under a roof or a sail.
  • Cap plates give each post a level base at exactly the right height.
  • No holes or concrete in the driveway or the lawn.
  • Ground screws come supply-only for builders.

Good to know

Many carports, pergolas and shade sails are exempt from building consent if they meet the Schedule 1 conditions. Shade sails put big loads on their posts, so the post size and depth come from the sail supplier or an engineer.

How it works

From enquiry to building on it.

  1. 1

    Tell us about it

Call, email or send your estimate. Plans help, but a sketch with dimensions is fine to start.

  2. 2

    Site check

We look at access, ground and underground services, and confirm the right pile for the job.

  3. 3

    Engineering

For consented work, the engineer designs the layout and target torque and issues a PS1.

  4. 4

    Install day

Set-out, then each pile screwed to target torque and cut to level, with depth and torque logged.

  5. 5

    Handover

The torque record and PS3 go to you and the engineer, and your builder starts straight away.
