Boardwalks & footbridges
Raised walkways over wet or sensitive ground you'd rather not dig.
Boardwalks, footbridges and garden walkways often cross ground you can't or shouldn't dig: wetland, stream banks, tree roots or soft fill. Screw piles go in with a small rig and very little disturbance, carry load straight away, and are cut to the exact level the walkway needs.
Why screw piles
- Very little ground disturbance, so they suit wet, soft or sensitive areas.
- Each pile is cut to level, so a long walkway stays true.
- Work around tree roots and on sloping banks.
- Nothing to cure, so the frame can go on straight away.
Good to know
Walkways and bridges near water or in protected areas may need a resource consent as well as a building consent, and an engineer to design the piles. Tell us about access early: the rig is small, but it still needs a way to each pile.
How it works
From enquiry to building on it.
-
1
Tell us about it
Call, email or send your estimate. Plans help, but a sketch with dimensions is fine to start.
-
2
Site check
We look at access, ground and underground services, and confirm the right pile for the job.
-
3
Engineering
For consented work, the engineer designs the layout and target torque and issues a PS1.
-
4
Install day
Set-out, then each pile screwed to target torque and cut to level, with depth and torque logged.
-
5
Handover
The torque record and PS3 go to you and the engineer, and your builder starts straight away.
