Services

We supply them. We screw them in. We sign them off.

From a dozen ground screws for a deck to a full house foundation with engineering and producer statements, one team takes care of it from Takanini.

  • Supply & install

Our rig and crew install every pile to target torque, cut to level and fit the heads. Most jobs take a day or less, and your builder can start straight after.

    • Set-out from your plans
    • Standard and compact rigs
    • Piles cut and levelled
    • Heads, saddles and plates fitted
  • Engineering & paperwork

For consented builds we organise a chartered engineer to design the pile layout and target torque (PS1), then provide our PS3 with the torque record. Already have an engineer? We'll work to their design.

    • Site-specific design (PS1)
    • Installation record (PS3)
    • Torque and depth per pile
    • PS4 via the engineer if council needs one
  • Load testing

When the engineer wants proof beyond the torque correlation, we can arrange on-site load testing of a sample of piles before or after installation.

    • Compression or tension tests
    • Results to the engineer
    • Useful for unusual ground
  • Supply only

Ground screws, extensions, saddles, plates and bracket kits for builders and DIYers. Pick up from Takanini or we'll deliver. Send us your plan and we'll put the list together.

    • Ground screws in stock sizes
    • Advice on spacing and heads
    • Delivery across our regions

Applications

What we pile, and how.

New houses

Most timber-floored houses can sit on screw piles instead of bored concrete piles. Your engineer (or ours) designs the layout and target torque, we install and log every pile, and the builder starts the subfloor the same day. It's especially worth it on soft, wet or sloping sites, where digging holes is slow and messy.

Extensions & additions

Additions are often squeezed against the existing house, with tight side access and nowhere to put spoil. The compact rig gets through a side gate, the piles go in beside existing foundations without undermining them, and there's no concrete truck in the driveway.

Relocated & transportable homes

We install the piles to the layout before the house arrives, so it can be craned or rolled straight on. If the building moves again one day, the piles unscrew, with no concrete left behind.

Tiny homes & granny flats

Small standalone homes up to 70m² are what our sister company Hari Tiny Homes builds every week. Screw piles suit them perfectly: quick to install, easy to level, and removable. We can pile any brand of tiny home or granny flat, not just Hari's.

Light commercial & steel frames

Heavier piles with cap plates for steel portal frames, canopies, carports and light commercial buildings, including Kiwi Steel Frames builds. Every one is a specific design, with load testing available.

Fences, signs & solar

Fence and gate posts, signs, flagpoles and ground-mounted solar arrays. Ground screws are quick to line up, carry wind uplift well, and don't leave concrete in the ground when things change.

Retaining & underpinning

Helical piles can carry retaining wall posts, and can underpin existing foundations that have settled, with minimal digging next to the building. These are always engineer-led, so talk to us early.

Where we work

Auckland, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty.

Our rigs leave from the yard at 182 Great South Road, Takanini, just off the Southern Motorway. That puts most of Auckland, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty within a morning's drive. Further afield? Ask, especially for larger jobs.
